Christy, the Wife, and Chris, the Somm, met in 2009 while still working in the film industry and quickly fell in love over a combination of homemade dinners and traveling the world exploring food and wine. Christy's family has lived in Southern California since the late 1800s, and Chris comes from a big Italian family in Pennsylvania. we are thrilled to share our love of food, wine, family, and friends by creating a space where our guests can relax, feel at home, and sometimes never want to leave.
in 2017 we started a boutique catering business, Home Somm, to share our passion for pairing wine and food. after finding so much joy in serving people throughout California, we started looking for a permanent brick-and-mortar location. the moment we walked into our space in Glassell Park, hidden behind walls of ivy with a small backyard that's filled with grapevines and a lemon tree, we knew we had found our home for Wife and the Somm.
in the spring of 2021, we opened our cozy, intimate space nestled on delightfully tree-lined Verdugo Road. we are constantly changing our expansive wine list, curated from around the world, heavily focused on low interventionist and small producers. and our ever-evolving menu features seasonal food using quality ingredients procured from local purveyors, creating the perfect pairings.
